Chef Wan, Malaysia's Celebrity Chef

If you're a Malaysian native, you should've heard about Chef Wan a long time ago. He has been popular since years ago, and is still. Chef Wan holds many tags and roles such as professional chef, ambassador, actor, motivator, speaker, host, coach, critic, entrepreneur and author. All these from one thing he is good at food. Food makes him famous. Food makes him rich. Food makes him travel all over the world. The name is Redzuawan Bin Ismail, he was born in Singapore in 1958. He is the eldest in a family of seven children. He is qualified as an accountant but due to his passion for cooking, he later became a professional chef. He has an associate degree in Professional Chef Training and Hotel Management from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, United States. He also has a Ritz Escoffeir Diploma (Ecole Ritz-Esscoffier De Gastronomie Francaise) from the Ritz hotel in Paris, France.

He has to date cooked for many famous personalities which include the Sultan of Brunei as well the former US President, Bill Clinton. But he is not just good at making great food; he owns this unique persona that will mesmerize his audience and make them wish they can watch him all day long. His old style of mak-nenek-nagging never fail to captivate people. In short, he is one hell of a celebrity. He is considered Malaysia’s answer to Britain’s Jamie Oliver and America’s Martha Stewart.

Not many people know the fact that the Singapore-born cook was a qualified accountant but due to his deep interest in cooking, he quit his accounting profession, learned cooking and become aprofessional chef. He knew there had to be some turning point in his life and that happened 17 years ago.

Even though he knew his decision would disappoint his father back then but he could no hold back his passion and was no longer willing to lie to himself. As an accountant, he was dressing the corporate suit and tie but deep in his heart it is not the kind of life and work style he had wanted. Seven years working for a bank made him felt enough is enough. He was desperate for a career change and wanted to do something he loves and that is going to be food. He is a living testament of ‘Cherish your passion, follow your heart, do what you love to do, and the money will follow.Looking back at the turning point, no one will argue that Chef Wan never regretted his decision to switch profession. Even though he was made to go back to school toiling with all the kitchen stuff and at the same time funding his own studies, the reward is fulfilling.

For the past decade or so, he has been a familiar face in the international arena, representing Malaysia as ambassador in food expo and tourism exhibitions around the world. He has appeared in worldwide news and programs such as in CBBC Asia, CNN, Channel News Asia and so on.

At 49, he is now living to taste the by-products of his own sacrifice in the form of interviews, VIP invitation, brand ambassador appointments, luxurious penthouse, and reaping royalties from his shows and best selling books.

Laguna Beach Resort

Alright, here comes the second assignment from our lecturer miss Mimi. It's about product review that we can promote to people out there about our product and convince them that our product is good and preferable. It’s not only a product; a place also can be something that we can promote to other people. So, in my situation, I like to promote a location which is called Laguna Beach Resort. It’s located in Pulau Redang in Kuala Terengganu. Have you been there? Do you feel stressful and exhausted with your work or assignment? Here is the place that suitable for you guys to come with your family and friends.
Why I choose this place, it is because I’ve been there with my family few years ago. I will tell you why I like this place and why I want to promote it to all of you. Laguna Redang Island Resort has 222 rooms ranging from Standard, Deluxe Garden, Deluxe Pool, Deluxe Sea, and Premier Sea Rooms & Laguna Suites. All rooms are extra spacious and lined with timber striped flooring. Deluxe rooms and above have individual balconies to take advantage of the South China Sea breeze with a choice of enchanting garden, rain forest, sea or pool views. Located on one of the best beach on the island, the hotel is set against a backdrop of fine powder-white sand, crystal-clear waters and emerald hills. Isn’t it cool for our vacation? So relaxing and very refreshing….
Other than that, many activities that will provided there such as snorkelling, jungle trekking, fishing trip or ‘candat sotong’ , diving and underwater photo taking, canoe, banana boat, beach volleyball and much more fun activities! I must say that snorkelling is the best activities to do. From my experienced, I’ve been snorkelling to Bidong Island. It was really beautiful under the water which we can feed the fish and taking picture inside the water with nice and amazing view of corals. There are also offering digital video and computer-related services (cd burning and printing) to those who want to buy and their picture as a memory.
For those who like or want to learn diving also can come to this place. A fully-equipped and professionally-staffed dive centre provides diving lessons, equipment rental and expeditions out to the many dive locations in the area. In Laguna Beach Resort also provides service such as houses a massage centre. So, you can relax your body about a couple of hour there. Pool table and a variety of indoor and board games are also available.

About the price, I think it is quite expensive but don’t worry, it’s totally worth for our vacation. With the varieties of activities and services, I think it is fine and worth to those who are really likes delight vacation. I must say, comparing to other island that I’ve been before which is Langkawi Island, Kapas island, Pangkor Island; Redang is more beautiful and fascinate island.
So, what are you guys waiting for? Come and decide to come here for your vacation with your family and friends. I believe this place would not disappoint your holiday and ensure interesting vacation. If you really interested and want to know more about this place, do call at this number, 09-6310888 or visit to their website, www.lagunaredangtt.com.my. 'about me'

Bismillahirahmanirrahim...This is my first time ever to write in a blog and to own one! As far as I can remember, I don't even have any journal or a diary to pen down anything about my life. But why now? For your info, I am now pursuing my degree in Mass Communication (Interpersonal) in Mara of Technology University, Shah Alam. Since this is my first year, we have been given a task or should I say an assignment given by Miss Mimi and she's lecturing for our subject called 'Thinking and Writing Strategies'.

I would say, it will be a good platform for me to improve my English specifically in writing skills. Perhaps, I can express my feelings, share ideas or even opinion by blogging. I can feel that it will be so much interesting to kick off my first year with this interesting yet unique assignment.

Alright, I will start with why I choose ‘AmyZacque’ as title of my blog? Personally, it’s simple, short and easy to remember. Amy is obviously taken from my second name, whilst Zacque is initial of capital “Z” from my father’s name and it’s been spelled out as it is for his initial or signature.

Ok, that's enough for my introduction. Now, I like to share with you guys about myself. The name given is Shayu Amyna Zakaria and Amy is people used to address me. I'm turning 22 this April and been brought up in Kelana Jaya, Selangor. I have 6 siblings which are 3 boys and 3 girls and I’m the 4th from 6 siblings. We are very closed to each other. It is very grateful for me to have such a wonderful and loving parents. I would consider them as my super mom and super dad.

my happy family...love them a lot!

About my hobbies, I love music a lot. I used to listening to the radio or mp3 every day even when I’m studying. I listen every kind of genre music especially r&b, hip hop, and indon’s. I think music is parts form my life =)…I also love to karaoke. Usually, I will go to shopping mall with my sisters and friends to karaoke box and spend our time there. It was so much fun. Other than that, I’ve been presenting my secondary school in nasyid competition until state level and my position was percussion. My group’s name was balqis an-nur and I really miss that time so much.

Initially, i started my primary school at S.K Kelana Jaya(2) and S.A.R Al-Hidayah from standard one until standard six. I've only got 2 A's and 3 B's for my UPSR. Instead of conventional and normal school, my father decided to send me at religious boarding school at As-Solihin,Shah Alam. Since it was a private religious boarding school(obviously the fees it quite expensive), hence i have to moved to Sekolah Agama Menengah Batu 10,Cheras when i was in form two until i've finished my SPM.

While waiting for my SPM result, i was working in Burger King in Kelana Jaya as a part timer for more than 3 months. I must say it was memorable experienced for me as i have to be a mascot to distribute the pamphlet to the customer.

Then, I continued my studied in lower six at S.M.(P) Sri Aman, Petaling Jaya. Surprisingly, I’ve got an offer from UiTM for the second intake to continuing my studying in Diploma in Business Studies, Dungun. I was very happy because I’ve managed to enter in UiTM. For your info, my families were also graduated from UiTM, which are my father, mother, my big brother, and my two sisters. During in Dungun, I’m not doing really well in my studies. My result doesn’t good enough and I really disappointed with it. But I’ve managed to finish my diploma with 2.83 in CGPA. Now, I’m here doing my degree in Mass Communication (Interpersonal) in Mara of Technology University, Shah Alam. I think, that’s all about me. Do comment me or give your opinion and I will take it as a compliment and advices.
